Family Cycling Routes Karachi: Safe Parks for Beginners
New marked cycling circuits at Hill Park and Sea View offer safe, flat paths for families and beginner riders. Traffic-free stretches make biking accessible for children in Karachi.
How we reported this
Karachi families have started using two newly marked cycling circuits in Hill Park and along the Sea View promenade since the start of June 2026.
The routes opened after the Karachi Metropolitan Corporation completed safety fencing and added directional signs in late May. Parents say the flat ground and limited vehicle access remove the main worries that kept children off bikes in previous years.
Hill Park loops and Sea View stretch
The Hill Park circuit runs 2.8 kilometres around the central lake and past the cricket ground, with entry from the Shaheed-e-Millat Road gate. The Sea View section follows the 1.9-kilometre paved path between the Dolmen Mall Clifton car park and the main beachfront roundabout, separated from the road by a low barrier installed last winter. Both sites stay open from 6 am to 8 pm and charge no entry fee for cyclists.
Local cycling groups such as the Karachi Pedal Club have held free Saturday morning sessions at Hill Park since 3 July, supplying spare helmets for children under 12. The sessions start at the park’s main fountain and end at the snack kiosk near the east gate.
Numbers and next steps
A May 2026 count by the corporation recorded 4,200 weekday users on the two routes combined, with 38 percent of riders aged 10 or younger. Bicycle rentals near the Hill Park gate cost 150 rupees for the first hour and 100 rupees for each additional hour.
City planners have scheduled the next safety audit for 15 August. Riders are advised to start before 9 am, carry water, and use the new bicycle stands at both locations. Helmets remain compulsory for anyone under 16 on the marked paths.
